Council is inviting eligible community groups and organisations to apply for grants of up to $750 to support local primary prevention activities for this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. Running from 25 November to 10 December annually, the global campaign calls for action to prevent gender-based violence by promoting gender equality and respectful relationships. Mayor Noami Joiner said the grants provide an opportunity for the community to undertake meaningful action at a local level. “Everyone has a role to play in creating a community where respect, equality and safety are the standard,” Cr Joiner said. “We are proud to offer grants that support community-led ideas and educate community members about this important campaign.” Funded projects can include community programs, events, arts and cultural activities, public space activations, Indigenous cultural activities, resource development and online initiatives.
Projects must align with a United Nations-recognised international cause day and be delivered within the 2026–2027 financial year. The cause days are:
