Council is offering grants of up to $1,000 to support community groups, schools and not-for profit organisations to run events or activities to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
IDPwD is a United Nations observed day held on 3 December each year to recognise the contributions and achievements of people with disabilities.
Grant applications are now open to support events and activities held on 3 December, or anytime between November 2025 and January 2026.
Mayor John Dumaresq said the grants offer an opportunity for community groups and organisations to celebrate and promote disability inclusion in Nillumbik.
“Council has previously funded a range of events for IDPwD and we look forward to seeing more great ideas from our community this year,” Cr Dumaresq said.
Previous events have included live music and theatre performances, inclusive sporting activities, sensory friendly events, and arts and social activities. Last year, autism peer support group Different Journeys ran two popular Lego Masters events.
You can discuss your ideas with the Disability Inclusion team by emailing inclusion@nillumbik.vic.gov.au or calling 0438 277 428.
Grant applications close 25 August 2025.
