Council has endorsed its 2025-26 Annual Report, highlighting strong performance across key priorities, responsible financial management and continued investment in projects and services that support the Nillumbik community.

Endorsed at this week’s Council Meeting, the report details Council's achievements over the past financial year and its progress in delivering the goals of the Council Plan 2025-2029.

Key results include:

  • 93 per cent of the 55 priority actions in the 2025-26 Annual Action Plan were completed or are on track.
  • 84 per cent of the 37 strategic performance indicators in the Council Plan either improved or maintained performance against targets.
  • Council delivered and committed 92 per cent of its planned capital works program.
  • Overall community satisfaction increased by 4.5 per cent on the 2025 result.
  • Council provided 110 grants worth $536,910 to local community groups and organisations.

Mayor Cr Naomi Joiner said the results demonstrate Council's commitment to delivering value for the community while maintaining long-term financial sustainability.

"The Annual Report shows Council has continued to invest in the services, facilities and infrastructure our community relies on, while maintaining a strong and responsible financial position," Cr Joiner said.

"In a challenging economic environment, we have remained focused on careful financial management, ensuring every dollar is directed towards projects and services that benefit our community today while planning responsibly for the future."

Highlights from the year included the completion and opening of several major community projects, including the Hurstbridge Community Shed, Eltham Lower Park Precinct improvements, Panton Hill Tennis Court and Pickleball Court upgrade, Diamond Creek Dog Park upgrade and the Kangaroo Ground War Memorial Tower Restoration.

Council also endorsed several key strategic documents, including the Council Plan 2025-2029, Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029, Asset Plan 2025-2035 and Financial Plan 2025-2035, while implementing actions under its Biodiversity Strategy, Climate Action Plan and Urban Tree Canopy Strategy.

The Annual Report is an important part of Council's commitment to transparent and accountable governance, providing the community with an overview of Council's performance, finances and achievements over the financial year.
