Eltham Lower Park upgrade ready for the community
Published on 01 June 2026
We’ve officially launched the $2 million upgrade to Eltham Lower Park.
The significant upgrade was funded through the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities program.
This much-loved park is a true multi-purpose community space, where people enjoy walking, playing sports, horse riding and simply getting outdoors. The upgrade works have been carefully designed to balance those interests.
Upgrades to the sports pavilion, home to Lower Eltham Cricket Club and Eltham Lacrosse Club, will improve accessibility and functionality, helping to increase local community and regional participation in sport.
A new dedicated off-leash dog park gives dogs and their owners a safe and enjoyable place to exercise and socialise. There’s also improved accessible car parking as well as new fencing around the equestrian arena.
Caring for the environment has been a key focus of the upgrade too.
Revegetation and landscaping works will boost biodiversity and protect the park’s natural values. Local Friends of groups contributed to the planting of around 3,000 new plants.
Mayor Naomi Joiner said she looked forward to seeing the community enjoy the upgraded park for years to come.
“This marks an exciting new chapter in the life of this special place.”
“Thank you to everyone who made this project happen, and those who continue to care for and enjoy Eltham Lower Park,” said Cr Joiner.
