Come along to Nillumbik’s free Bushfire and Community Safety Expo this October, where emergency services, community organisations, business, and government agencies will come together with locals for a fun and informative day focused on safety, preparedness and community resilience.

The family-friendly event is to be held at Alistair Knox Park, Eltham, on Sunday 18 October from 10am to 2pm. Get practical advice and resources, while enjoying a day out, with children’s activities and food stalls, there’s something for everyone.

This year's event has expanded to include a broader range of topics reflecting the many issues that can impact our community’s safety. From bushfire preparedness and severe weather to e-bike safety, bird flu information, emergency planning and community wellbeing.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet experts, ask questions, get practical safety information and learn about the services and support available across Nillumbik and beyond.

The event will also feature displays, demonstrations, fun and free children's activities, community stalls, food and emergency service vehicles.

Mayor Cr Naomi Joiner said the Expo is designed to help keep our community safe, all in one convenient location.

"Being prepared isn't just about responding to emergencies. It's about building knowledge, confidence and strong community connections so we can look out for one another when challenges arise.

"I encourage you to come along, have a chat with the experts, enjoy the activities on offer and take home practical information that could make a real difference for your family and your neighbours."
