Learn the art of negotiation at Creative Industries: HOW MUCH?
Published on 07 September 2026
Creatives are invited to an exciting interactive workshop designed to equip them with knowledge, tools and confidence around negotiating fees, saying no and articulating value. If you’re a creative who finds it tricky to confidently communicate the financial value of your work, this workshop is for you.
Led by circus director Debby Maziarz and performance maker Kate Sulan, HOW MUCH? will be a playful, hands-on exploration of financial empowerment. Participants will encounter real-world scenarios through improvisation, role play, games and storytelling.
Nillumbik Mayor Naomi Joiner said the workshop offers a unique opportunity for creatives to learn and explore conversations that support their financial equitability and sustainability.
“The format of HOW MUCH? will enable artists to rehearse challenging conversations, dive into hypothetical situations and gain valuable skills for their creative practice,” Cr Joiner said.
The event is being delivered by the Economic Development and Arts and Culture teams from Nillumbik Shire Council and Banyule City Council.
HOW MUCH? will be held at Hurstbridge Community Hub from 9.45am-1.30pm on Saturday 24 October.
Pre-registration is essential as participation numbers are limited. There is a $10 booking fee that is refundable after attending the workshop. Light lunch will be served.
