The draft concept plans for the Diamond Creek BMX Jumps and Recreation Park are now open for community feedback.

The proposed design includes a range of features for riders, families and visitors to enjoy, such as:

  • a learn-to-ride pump track, perfect for beginners and young riders
  • accessible toilets
  • seating and shelters
  • bike racks
  • BBQ facilities
  • a purpose-built BMX jumps area.

Council remains committed to delivering a safe, exciting and inclusive facility for all riders and will contribute $650,000 to fund the new BMX jumps. They are particularly keen to hear from the community about their preferred surface material for the BMX jumps.

Mayor John Dumaresq said the project is a great opportunity to deliver an area that supports active lifestyles and brings the community together.

“We want to create a BMX and recreation park that’s not only fun and challenging for riders but also welcoming for families and visitors. Your feedback is vital to making sure this facility meets the needs of our community now and for years to come.” Cr Dumaresq said.

Edendale Ward Councillor Kelly Joy acknowledged the strong community input into the project.

“It’s exciting to see such enthusiasm from riders, families and locals in helping us to build an iconic park for people of all ages to enjoy,” she said.

"We’re really interested to see which surface BMX riders would like to see on the jumps and I encourage everyone to provide their feedback on the concept plan.”

The Victorian Government has committed $2.16 million through the Growing Suburbs Fund (GSF) to help deliver this project.

Community members are encouraged to view the concept plans and share their thoughts by Tuesday 21 October.
