Nillumbik is home to over 60 outdoor public playspaces, which provide opportunities for children to engage with the natural environment through cognitive, creative, physical and social types of play.

We understand the importance of quality outdoor playspaces, and Council is committed improving these for children and families to enjoy.

In addition to minor works occurring at various locations, several sites have been identified as priorities for 2025-26 renewal works based on age, condition audits and levels of use by the community. This includes Parry Reserve in Eltham North, Diamond Hills Reserve in Greensborough, Jacaranda Drive Reserve in Diamond Creek, Pitt Street Reserve in Eltham, Eltham Lower Park in Eltham, and Oldstead Road Reserve in Greensborough, Cooks Crescent in North Warrandyte and Eastgate Drive Reserve in Greensborough.

Works planned for Eastgate Drive Reserve

The upgraded playspace will include a new combination unit featuring a climbing activity, an imaginative/interactive play panel, rock wall and a slide.

The existing pommel walk will be replaced with a new balance activity, and the swing set will be upgraded to a two‑bay frame with a bird's nest swing.

The spring rocker will be replaced, and an additional alternative play feature will be added.

This playground is designed for children aged 2 to 10, with works scheduled for completion by mid-2026.
