Background

Research Park Oval is home to Research Junior Football Club and Eltham Collegians Cricket Club. 

The previous sports lighting was installed in 2010-11 at the oval and did not meet requirements for training and games at night and in adverse conditions.

The upgrade project includes a 150 lux LED system to support improved light, energy efficiency and overall improvement to the capability of the facility into the future.

Works include

• Removal of existing lighting system and poles
• Installation of four new poles to support the lighting system
• LED fittings to provide 150 lux levels with shields to manage light spill
• Upgrade to the power supply and switchboards to support the new system 

Funding details

The Research Park Oval Lighting upgrade is being funded with:

• $199,975 through the Victorian Government’s 2025-26 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund
• $30,000 Australian Football League (AFL) grant under the Australian Football Facilities Fund (AFFF)
• $103,317 Nillumbik Council co-contribution
