Aleks Danko’s enigmatic 'Not Just a Pretty Place' appears, like a giant riverstone, to have come to rest on the meadow-like flood plains of Lenister Farm, close to the Yarra River. Danko’s work pays homage to grand public sculpture, through his choice of shaped, marked and polished stone, while challenging the grandiosity of much public sculpture, through the understated modesty of its form.
