Dementia is one of the top two leading causes of death in Nillumbik. There are many things we can do to reduce our risk factors for dementia and improve our cognitive health.
This session will provide valuable insights, education and resources for people living with dementia, their care partners and the broader community.
Dr Courtney Shelton is a consultant geriatrician and research fellow at Austin Health’s Medical and Cognitive Research Unit. Courtney has been involved in research and education in the field of neuroscience for over 18 years, and has worked for almost a decade in public hospitals in Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs serving the community she and her family live in. Courtney is passionate about dementia prevention and ensuring people living with dementia receive holistic, person-centred care prioritising their individual needs and identity.
The allied health team are experts in the field of dementia and have vast experience in supporting clients living with dementia. They will present on how to live well with a diagnosis of dementia, strategies for caregivers, and what we can do as a community to promote independence and stay doing what matters most to you.
