Learn how to repair holes in fine knitwear, jumpers and socks using visible darning techniques.
This session covers assessing damage, choosing suitable yarns, and creating strong, neat repairs that will hold together across the life of your garment. It will also teach visible mending techniques for creative and vibrant darns.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along an item of clothing to work on during the session and will receive advice and support in repairing it themselves. If you don't have an item to work on, we'll have some practice pieces available.
Bookings are essential.
In addition to an item of clothing, you might like to bring along a few things to help with your repair if you have them:
a darning needle and basic sewing supplies
a wooden darning mushroom, or a firm orange and a rubber band
darning wool that is the same weight as your item, in a matching or contrasting colour
a craft lamp or head lamp for good lighting
a magnifying lens and/or reading glasses.
This session is for beginner and intermediate sewists who are interested in learning how to repair and embellish their clothing.
