The Nillumbik Business Ignite Series (NBIS) is a two week program of high impact workshops, keynote speakers and networking events designed to support and grow Nillumbik’s business community.

Strong sales do not always mean strong cash flow. Many businesses look profitable on paper yet struggle to meet wages, tax payments or loan commitments. This practical workshop unpacks why that happens and what you can do about it.

Sonja Pfitz will guide participants through the fundamentals of cash flow, including the difference between profit and cash position, the impact of timing gaps, credit terms, tax obligations and seasonal fluctuations. You will explore how cash flow behaves at different stages of business from start up through to growth, maturity and transition, and why each stage requires a different strategy.

The session also covers practical systems for managing debt and debtor control, including:

How to prioritise payments and communicate effectively with creditors.
Strategies to improve invoice payment timeframes.
Warning signs that predict non payment.
When to negotiate, when to escalate and when to conserve cash.

This workshop is designed for small, micro and home based business owners who want greater financial clarity and control.
