Nillumbik Bushfire and Community Safety Expo 2026

Come along to Nillumbik’s free Bushfire and Community Safety Expo, where emergency services, community organisations, business, and government agencies will come together with locals for a fun and informative day focused on safety, preparedness and community resilience.

The family-friendly event is to be held at Alistair Knox Park, Eltham, on Sunday 18 October from 10am to 2pm.

Get practical advice and resources, while enjoying a day out, with children’s activities and food stalls, there’s something for everyone.

This year's event has expanded to include a broader range of topics reflecting the many issues that can impact our community’s safety, including:

• Bushfire preparedness
• Severe weather
• E-bike safety
• Bird flu information
• Emergency planning
• Community wellbeing

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet experts, ask questions, get practical safety information and learn about the services and support available across Nillumbik and beyond.

The event will also feature displays, demonstrations, fun and free children's activities, community stalls, food and emergency service vehicles.

What's on

With expert presentations and interactive displays, the event will give residents and visitors the chance to: 

• Meet and talk with emergency services
• Learn practical safety tips
• Hear from experts on a range of topics
• Free kids' activities, displays and food

For the kids, there will be fire trucks to explore, face painting and other activities.

Plus there will be a variety of food stalls offering something for everyone.

Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash at all times.
