Saving water outdoors

Next date: Saturday, 10 October 2026 | 01:30 PM to 03:30 PM

saving water outdoors

Small changes in how we use water can add up to significant savings over time, both for the environment and your water bills.

This session explores where water outdoors comes from, how it moves across the landscape, and how you can design your home and garden to work with that flow.

You'll learn about sources including rainwater, grey water, and mains supplies and how to use them together effectively. You'll also get practical guidance on designing a tank system sized to match your roof catchment area and household needs.

We'll also cover efficient garden-watering techniques, and draw on living examples from Edendale Farm that demonstrate approaches for catching, storing, and distributing water that you can adapt for your own property.

Who is it for?

This session is suited to anyone wanting to learn about water-saving technologies and behaviours to reduce their water consumption outdoors, and also save money on water bills.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible event environment for all attendees. If you have accessibility or inclusion requirements regarding this event, please contact us about how we can help at environment@nillumbik.vic.gov.au
