Spring at Apteds

Spring at Apteds is a seasonal farm-gate visitor experience at Apteds Orchards, a fifth-generation working orchard in Arthurs Creek.

Across selected dates during the September school holidays, visitors are invited to experience the orchard as it moves through spring - from blossom and pollination through to new growth and the beginning of the next fruit-growing season.

The experience is designed around the orchard and our agricultural activities. Visitors can follow the self-guided Spring Discovery Trail to learn more about the growing cycle, orchard practices and what is happening on the farm at this time of year.

Younger visitors can take part in the Little Growers Orchard Quest, encouraging them to explore, observe and learn more about how fruit is grown.

Families can also enjoy designated orchard play areas and seasonal photo stops, bring a picnic or relax among the trees, and purchase farm-gate produce and refreshments during their visit.

On selected dates, visiting food and coffee vendors and small-scale complementary activities such as live acoustic music, fairy activities, giant bubbles and roaming entertainment will add to the visitor experience. These activities are secondary to the core farm-gate and orchard experience and vary by day.

Blossom is naturally one of the highlights of spring in the orchard; however, flowering is weather and season dependent and peak blossom cannot be guaranteed on any particular date. Spring at Apteds has therefore been designed to give visitors a reason to explore the farm throughout the season, rather than relying on a single blossom-viewing period.

Spring at Apteds also provides an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the orchard ahead of Apteds’ first cherry Pick Your Own season later in the year, connecting the spring growing cycle with the fruit that follows.
