Peppers Paddock

Located in the heart of Wattle Glen, Peppers Paddock is a popular community reserve that offers a blend of recreation, relaxation and nature-based experiences.

Situated adjacent to the historic Peppers Paddock General Store, the reserve provides a welcoming gathering place for families, visitors and the local community.

About the reserve

Peppers Paddock is a valued community open space that caters for a range of recreational activities, from family gatherings and picnics to informal play and relaxation.

The spacious grassed areas provide room for children to run and play, while the picnic and BBQ facilities make the reserve an ideal destination for social gatherings and community events.

The reserve has a strong local history and was created from land formerly associated with the Pepper family following road realignment and subdivision works in the early 1960s. Today, it remains an important community meeting place and recreational asset for Wattle Glen.

About the playground

The playground at Peppers Paddock provides opportunities for active and imaginative play in a natural setting.

Designed for a range of ages, the play space encourages climbing, balancing, swinging and exploration, while the surrounding open space offers additional opportunities for informal recreation and family enjoyment.

Community and environment

Peppers Paddock is also supported by community environmental initiatives.

Since 1992, local volunteers from the Friends of Watery Gully have worked with Council to revegetate and care for the reserve, helping transform the area into an attractive space for both wildlife and recreation. The group undertakes tasks such as weed control, planting, mulching and rubbish collection, with aims of enhancing biodiversity and creating habitat for native fauna.

The reserve provides a refuge for native flora and fauna, as the creek line feeds into the Diamond Creek and is an important contributor to platypus habitat. The surrounding vegetation helps protect this waterway while also providing habitat for birds and insects.
