Yarrambat War Memorial Park is a community sport and recreation reserve located on Ironbark Road, Yarrambat.

The reserve provides open space and sporting infrastructure for local clubs, schools and community members, supporting activities including Australian rules football, cricket, school sport and personal training.

Yarrambat has a strong local history connected to farming, community life and remembrance. The area was historically known as Tanck’s Corner before being renamed Yarrambat, a name understood to mean “high hills” or “pleasant views”. The township developed from small farms, orchards and local community facilities, with the recreation reserve and war memorial forming part of Yarrambat’s ongoing civic and sporting identity.

Sport and community use

Over the years, Yarrambat War Memorial Park has evolved into a multi-purpose community sporting venue, providing an important local venue for organised community sport, supporting junior participation, training, matches and club activities throughout the year.

In winter, the reserve is home to the Yarrambat Junior Football Club (known as the Bats) competes in the Northern Football Netball League (NFNL). The club fields both boys and girls' teams from U9 to U18.

As the home of Nillumbik’s only turf cricket pitch, the oval plays an important role in supporting local cricket participation and competition in summer. The Plenty Valley Cricket Club (PVCC) participates in two main leagues with men’s teams competing in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) and women’s teams competing in Victorian Premier Cricket.

These long-standing seasonal uses have ensured that Yarrambat War Memorial Park continues to be an important sporting and recreation hub for the Yarrambat community.

Getting there and accessibility

The reserve can be accessed from Ironbark Road. On-site parking is available, with pedestrian access to the oval and pavilion.

Visitors are encouraged to take care when entering and leaving the reserve, particularly during peak sporting times.
