If your property is used for farming, you can apply to get your property classified as farm land for rates. This will reduce the amount you pay.
To get the farm land rate, your property must be:
- more than two hectares
- used as a primary production business with significant and substantial commercial purpose or character which seeks to make a profit on a continuous or repetitive basis.
Your property must also be used primarily for:
- grazing (including agistment)
- pig farming
- fish farming
- beekeeping
- horticulture
- dairying
- poultry farming
- tree farming
- viticulture
- crop growing (of any kind).
