Everyone should know about children’s rights

Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the rights, talents and achievements of children. This year’s theme, “Everyone should know about children’s rights”, is based on Article 42 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which highlights the importance of making children’s rights widely known.

Nillumbik Shire Council will be celebrating with a day of fun and engaging activities at Edendale Farm on Wednesday 22 October 2025, alongside other community events.

Families can enjoy:

  • Sensory-friendly storytime and animal encounters
  • Special Children’s Rights Storytime with Eltham Library
  • Farm tours and nature-based activities like Bird Bingo
  • Creative sessions in the Craft Corner
  • Portable golf fun

Plus art workshops for kinder kids at Eltham Neighbourhood House on 21 and 23 October.

Events are designed to be inclusive, interactive and accessible, with activities suitable for a range of ages.
