Arts and Culture Strategy 2022-2026

heart in heart.JPG

An Arts and Culture Plan or Strategy for Nillumbik Shire is developed every four years. It responds directly to the strategic objectives/goals of the Council Plan in line with community needs and aspiration. The new strategy will build upon the current Arts & Cultural Plan 2018-2022.

Nillumbik has long been renowned for fostering its deep connections to the arts. We know that our artistic and cultural heritage is important to the Nillumbik community and that creative communities and grassroots art practices are inherent to the Shire.

ArtBeat: a pulse check for Arts & Culture in Nillumbik will help guide the development of a new Arts & Culture Strategy for Nillumbik Shire Council and will be based on community values and focused on outcomes.

Community consultation

The initial community consultation phase for the new strategy was completed in early July 2021. The consultations included 12 different activities: an interactive exhibition, surveys (online and paper based), roving performers, focus groups and opportunities for individual submissions.

The consultations heard 2216 distinct voices across a wide and diversified field, from every corner of Nillumbik.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts.

Data analysis has now been undertaken and we have created a ‘what we know’ report using all the collected data. This report was presented to Council in early November 2021.
