Opening the Conversation: Death, Dying & Lived Experience

A follow-on session from Dying To Know Day, for attendees to explore topics related to death and dying with end-of-life-doula Baci Hillyer.

Baci will present a thought-provoking session exploring death, dying, and the lived experience of people approaching the end of life.

Drawing on personal and professional insights, Baci will discuss the importance of understanding end-of-life experiences through a person-centred lens, highlighting the value of dignity, choice, respect, and meaningful connection.

The session will gently explore the emotional, social, cultural, and practical aspects of end-of-life care and the impact these experiences have on individuals, families, and support networks.

Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how lived experience can inform compassionate care, effective advocacy, and supportive conversations around death and dying.

This event offers an opportunity to reflect on the role of families, professionals and communities in supporting people at the end of life, while exploring ways to foster empathy, understanding and person-centred approaches in practice.
