Hurstbridge East Oval is located at Graysharps Road, Hurstbridge, adjacent to the Hurstbridge Community Hub and Basketball Stadium.
Today it functions as a secondary sports ground supporting football, cricket, school sport and community recreation.
The oval sits on land associated with the former Hurstbridge High School. Following the school's closure, the site became the focus of extensive community consultation and planning aimed at retaining the area for public recreation and open space rather than residential development.
In December 2018, Council adopted the final precinct plan, formally committing to preserve the former school land as a community recreation precinct. The East Oval was recognised as an important component of the precinct's future sporting infrastructure.
While Ben Frilay Oval is the historic football ground dating back to the 1920s, Hurstbridge East Oval is a more recent sporting facility developed to support growing participation and provide additional playing and training capacity within the Graysharps Road precinct.
