Woodridge Linear Reserve is a popular community park and walking corridor in Eltham that extends through the Woodridge estate, providing residents and visitors with opportunities for recreation, nature appreciation and outdoor exercise.

The reserve meanders between Grove Street, Hartland Way and Eucalyptus Road, linking neighbourhoods with a network of shared paths and open space.

Features

  • Shared walking paths that wind through native vegetation and provide a pleasant setting for walking, jogging and casual recreation.
  • Playground facilities and open grassed areas suitable for families and local residents.
  • Native bushland habitat supporting local flora and fauna, including links to nearby conservation areas.
  • Connection to the Pauline Toner Butterfly Reserve, an important habitat area associated with the threatened Eltham Copper Butterfly.

Hartland Way playground

The Hartland Way playground is the primary play space within Woodridge Linear Reserve and serves as a neighbourhood destination for local families. Recently renewed as part of Nillumbik Shire Council's Playspace Renewal Program, the playground has been designed to encourage active, imaginative and social play.

Eucalyptus Road playground

The Eucalyptus Road playground is a smaller local play space positioned at the eastern end of Woodridge Linear Reserve. It caters primarily to young children and families living within walking distance of the reserve. The playground offers opportunities for informal outdoor play within a peaceful bushland setting and benefits from its connection to the reserve's walking trails and open spaces.

Community stewardship

The reserve is actively supported by the Friends of Woodridge Linear Reserve, a local volunteer group that undertakes environmental restoration activities including weeding, planting and habitat enhancement. The group has also contributed to the expansion and protection of habitat for the Eltham Copper Butterfly.

Recreation and accessibility

Woodridge Linear Reserve offers a tranquil environment for walking, running and informal recreation. Its sealed and maintained pathways make it accessible for a wide range of users, while the surrounding native vegetation creates a natural escape within the urban area.
