Bridge Street Rugby Ground is a dedicated rugby venue that supports training, competition and community participation in sport.

For more than 50 years, Eltham Rugby Union Football Club has provided opportunities for players of all ages to enjoy rugby in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The club continues to play an important role in the local sporting community, fostering teamwork, participation and healthy, active lifestyles.

Dog training

Bridge Street Rugby Ground is used not only for organised sport but also supports community dog training activities.

The reserve is a popular location for obedience, socialisation and behavioural training programs, providing an open grassed environment suitable for dogs and their handlers

Dog training activities may be subject to bookings, permits or seasonal use arrangements where applicable.

Sports ground redevelopment

Council is undertaking a major reconstruction of the sports ground to create a higher-performing and more resilient playing surface.

The project includes field regrading, drainage and irrigation upgrades, installation of new turf, player and spectator facilities, coaches' boxes and drinking fountains.

The redevelopment will:

  • Improve player safety
  • Enhance wet-weather performance and drainage
  • Reduce ground closures
  • Increase capacity for training and competition
  • Support the continued growth of rugby in Nillumbik
