Storm update for Nillumbik residents
Published on 20 January 2020
Thank you for your patience as we continue with clean-up efforts following Sunday's storms.
Nillumbik Shire Council will be running an extra green bin collection in the Warrandyte/North Warrandyte area for those who normally put their bin out on a Monday, this Saturday 25 January 2020. Green waste bins will be collected on Monday as well.
Any residents who have been affected by the storm can also take their green waste to our Recycling and Recovery Centre, 290 Yan Yean Rd, Plenty, free of charge for the next two weeks until Monday 3 February. The centre will open extra days on Wednesday and Thursday, 22 and 23 January, 8am to 4pm. It will then be open as usual Friday to Monday, 8am-4pm. To make use of this offer, residents must provide proof of residency, eg driver's licence.
Please note: the Recycling and Recovery Centre could be closed intermittently during periods of high winds. The local wind speed is monitored at the site and when it exceeds 55km/h, the site is temporarily closed. This is to protect customers and staff from potential injury or damage to vehicles caused by waste materials being picked up by the wind.
Our street sweepers are in the process of cleaning sealed roads. Other works may be required for unsealed roads.
We have received many requests and are working through these as quickly as possible.
